CoinShares has submitted a filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for a spot XRP exchange-traded fund (ETF). The filing was made alongside several other ETF-related submissions as companies push for more cryptocurrency-based investment products in the U.S. market.
CoinShares Seeks Approval for Spot XRP ETF
CoinShares has filed an S-1 registration statement with the SEC to introduce a spot XRP ETF. This development comes as more financial firms explore cryptocurrency ETFs following the approval of spot Bitcoin ETFs earlier this year.
In addition to CoinShares’ XRP ETF filing, several other cryptocurrency-related ETF submissions were made on January 25. CoinShares also filed an S-1 for a spot Litecoin ETF, signaling increased interest in altcoin-based ETFs. Meanwhile, Grayscale submitted a 19b-4 filing to convert its Solana Trust (GSOL) and Litecoin Trust into ETFs.
BlackRock, a major asset management firm, has also filed to allow in-kind creation and redemption for its iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT).
